A Bricklayer is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining brick, block, and stone structures for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. The role includes reading construction plans, preparing mortar, laying bricks, ensuring structural accuracy, and following Australian workplace safety standards. Skilled bricklayers are in high demand across Australia, and many employers also offer visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Prepare mortar and construction materials.
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and stone.
- Build walls, chimneys, partitions, and foundations.
- Repair damaged brickwork and masonry.
- Measure and align structures accurately.
- Install damp-proof materials where required.
- Operate bricklaying tools and equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite.
- Follow Australian WHS (Work Health & Safety) regulations.
Qualification
- High School Certificate (preferred)
- Trade Certificate or Diploma in Bricklaying/Masonry (preferred)
- 2–3 years of bricklaying experience is advantageous.
- Ability to read construction drawings.
- Good physical fitness.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction safety procedures
