A Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining water supply systems, drainage systems, gas pipes (where certified), heating systems, and sanitary fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The role requires technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and compliance with UK health and safety regulations.
Job Duties
- Install water supply and drainage pipes.
- Repair leaks, blocked drains, and damaged plumbing systems.
- Install sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, and water heaters.
- Maintain central heating and hot water systems.
- Read and interpret plumbing drawings and blueprints.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and proper operation.
- Follow UK building regulations and health & safety standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work records.
- Communicate professionally with customers and site supervisors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing (preferred).
- Plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and safety procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid UK driving licence is often preferred.
- For gas-related work, relevant certification is required.
